Since the global economic outlook has changed strikingly since the Bank of Canada conveyed a somewhat hawkish tone in its April communique, RBC's Ian Pollick doesn't expect much of a change in the central bank's direction. The recent underperformance by commodity prices has given additional pause whether that hawkish outlook remains appropriate, he said. Still, the Bank of Canada will likely strike a "cautious" tone given recent developments with some hawkish bits toward the end of the statement including a clause specifying the eventual need to withdraw monetary stimulus, Pollick said.
