Margin calls are possible in Spanish bonds, says Nordea. LCH.Clearnet may soon raise margins on Spanish government bonds given the recent surge in yields, Nordea says. "Even though such a decision was awaited also in the case of Irish and Portuguese bonds, it still led to more pressure on the bonds from these countries at the time," says Nordea's Chief Strategist Jan von Gerich. The clearing house last raised margin calls on Spanish bonds in May.
