Energy Pumps Up CPI, Unlikely to Draw Fed Worry

Consumer prices jumped 0.6% in august, biggest rise since June 2009. But it mostly reflects a 9.0% spike in gasoline prices. Ex food and energy core index up a meager 0.1%. Inflation remains muted, allowing the Fed to focus on promoting full employment. That's the goal behind Thursday's QE3 launch.
