Investors Get More Comfortable Shorting Yen -BBH

Ahead of the Bank of Japan's meeting this week, investors are becoming more comfortable shorting the yen, says Marc Chandler of Brown Brothers Harriman. That positioning has given the euro and dollar a lift against the Japanese currency to start the new trading week. Investors in recent days have been increasingly expecting the Bank of Japan to announce additional easing measures at its upcoming meeting and the threat of intervention to weaken the yen is growing as well. Japanese officials in recent days have been more vocal about such possibilities. The dollar is at Y78.73 from Y78.39 late Friday, according to EBS via CQG. The euro is at Y103.50 from Y102.91.
