The New York Fed says Carl Turnipseed, who heads its Financial Services Group, will retire in January after 43 years at the bank. Highlights from his long service include becoming the first African-American to run a Federal Reserve branch office and serve as an executive vice president. Turnipseed "played a key role in the transformation of paper-based securities and checks to electronic substitutes," the bank says.
