Peru's net international reserves rose to a record $60.45 billion as of Sept 11, in good part due to the ongoing central bank interventions to purchase US dollars. The central bank has been buying greenbacks regularly this year, aiming to smooth out the rapid appreciation of the sol. Peru's international reserves now are the equivalent of 32% of gross domestic product. By way of comparison, in December last year Peru's net international reserves were $48.82 billion.
