German-Swiss Tax Deal Failure Disappoints

The failure of a tax deal between Germany and Switzerland is disappointing, according to economiesuisse, after the upper house of the German parliament Friday rejected the tax accord. The Swiss business group hopes a solution can still be found by the German mediation committee. "The flat tax agreement would bring benefits for all sides and end the disputes of the past," it says. Switzerland will continue with its tax-compliant strategy, which respects the privacy of banks' customers, economiesuisse adds.
