Samsung has the Nexus 10 designed and produced on behalf of Google. But it is more than just a reference device for Android 4.2. With its high-resolution screen and powerful processor, it is interesting not only for developers, but for users. There are still criticisms.
The essential feature of the Nexus is a high-resolution 10-inch display with 2560 by 1600 pixels and about 300 ppi. By comparison, the 9.7-inch Retina display of the iPad 3 and iPad 4 has a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels at 264 ppi. Not only the size of the Nexus-10-display is larger, its screen is 217 times 127 millimeters less than the square of the iPhone 4 with 196 x 148 mm.
The colors of both displays appear natural. With a white background, the colors on the Nexus 10 somewhat redder than on the iPad 4th The brightness is almost identical on both devices. Even with the mirror in direct sunlight, the two devices do not take much. Both are there also readable. Titles are displayed in the default settings also razor sharp on both devices.
On the quality of the screen, there is nothing to criticize. The internet connection in the Chrome browser is fast, when scrolling, there are no delays. Even with graphically demanding 3D games makes the tablet an extremely good impression. The position sensor responds with a slight delay, which prevents accidental switching. The brightness sensor works reliably.
No slot for microSD cards
The Nexus 10 is similar with its slightly rounded longitudinal and lateral sides of the rear view mirror of a car. Its housing is made entirely of plastic, but it seems high quality. The back is gummed, feels a little like leather and does not slip when the tablet is located on a flat surface. Because of the plastic housing, the Nexus 10 with 604 grams weighs almost 50 grams less than the iPhone 4 without UMTS and LTE module. It can therefore be even pleasant in one hand.
The Nexus 10 is supplied with a two-gigabyte of RAM and either 16 or 32 gigabytes of flash memory. A slot for a microSD card does not exist. The integrated 5-megapixel camera takes only snapshots on the display of the Nexus 10 look that way.
Wireless dominates the tablet to 802.11b/g/n and a / n . Accordingly, the Nexus 10 can also make use of the frequency range of 5 gigahertz. This conceals the official data of Google. Conclusion: Strong hardware at a competitive price
In terms of hardware, the Android tablet from Samsung with the current iPad 4 is superior in almost every way. The question remains as to why Android is only on such a powerful device as round as iOS on less powerful hardware.
At Samsung's tablet, there is little to complain about. The screen is better than average. The load times in the browser can be seen better than in many other tablets.
About the battery life in video mode, which is below the value specified by the manufacturer, can annoy. But that is complaining on a very high level. Especially the non-existent UMTS module the user is forcing the tablet to wireless range and therefore use also usually near an outlet.
The lack of micro SD cards but especially for this device a great deficit.
