Unlike the US data, the deterioration in Canada's trade balance looks like "some deterioration in trend, with export weakness in particular broad-based," says Deutsche Bank. The forex market usually pays little immediate attention to such data, but Canada's report "probably bears more watching as a check on CAD strength." It doesn't look like anyone's checking it right now as the currency hits a 13-month high against the dollar.
